Chapter 1

Understanding Primo Passo 2020

How do you obtain your Primo Passo 2020 NFT?
  1. Go to “Tutorial” or subscribe to one of our “Seminar” to find out more about the Subscryption project and its collaboration with Stradivini.
  2. Digital use only: Rub off the goldy field on the bottle, type in the “Mint Code” and redeem your Proof-of-Drink.
  3. Collect, interact, show off – the choice is yours.
What is a Subscryption NFT?

With the Primo Passo, Subscryption combines the historic value of a vine bottle with the futuristic idea of a digital image, an NFT (non-fungible token). The token is stored on the Polygon blockchain and contains all the relevant information about the product, so that you can conveniently hold it as part of a collection or to access future benefits that might come to those that possess the just mentioned token. The NFT legitimizes the owner as a critic (“proof of drink”) of the wine and hey, it comes with a cool image as well.

What is an NFT?

A non-fungible token (NFT) is a unique digital good that cannot be copied or substituted, that is recorded in a blockchain, and that is used to certify authenticity and ownership. Because NFTs are uniquely identifiable assets, they differ from cryptocurrencies, which are fungible.

The Subscryption projects are based on the ERC1155 technical standard. All NFTs with the same design form a “group” on the blockchain and are clearly registered as such.

In the Primo Passo 2020 project, each bottle size forms a group of non-fungible tokens. Such a group contains fungible tokens – i.e. exchangeable tokens or tradeable NFTs.

What’s special about the ERC1155 standard?

In the ERC1155 standard, each token ID (token type) can contain any number of tokens. This characteristic therefore makes it perfectly suitable for a project that connects bottles of a specific size and vine to a digital collectible. This means that not every single bottle runs under its own token ID, but a token ID is assigned an entire bottle size of the vintage to which all the NFTs of a specific design are attached (semi-fungible token). This means there are not 1’700 available token IDs, but six. This standard also enables better interoperability with future NFT marketplaces. At this point we think it is important to mention, that despite the possibility for each ID to contain an arbitrary number of tokens, we will allow only as many tokens to be minted as there are bottles of wine.

How is the Primo Passo 2020 structured?

Primo Passo Minting

  1. URL
Entering the URL into your internet browser brings you to the minting page of the Subscryption project.
  2. Mint code
Entering the MINT code into the website and connecting to a digital wallet enable you to mint the NFT and transfer it to your personal wallet.
What do the six NFTs look like?

As discussed, every owner of a Primo Passo bottle, from the standard 75cl “Bouteille” to the rather festive 900cl “Salmanazar”, obtains the right to mint a uniquely designed NFT.
Some information about the project, as well as all designs can be explored by the interested reader under www.stradivini.ch/pp20.

Why are we bothering to issue an NFT of your Primo Passo bottle?

With the Primo Passo 2020, Subscryption is bridging the gap from the physical to the digital world in the area of wine collection, too. Traditional wine bottles have always been physically collected, gifted, and traded. With the Subscryption NFTs, this can now also be done online on the blockchain.

Traditional wine bottles come with a trade-off: you either collect it or you drink it. This is one of the main problems we want to solve with our invention. You can happily drink your fine bottle of Primo Passo 2020 and will still have the collectible, as long as you correctly mint and store your NFT.

Who designed the Primo Passo 2020 NFT?

The Primo Passo 2020 NFT was designed by GOS Global Optimisation Solutions SA in Losone, Switzerland.

Which partners did Subscryption work with to set up the technical solution?

The cryptographic part of the project was carried out by Crypto Heibel AG, whereas the web2 implementation was supported by Workframe AG. Both companies sit in Zug, Switzerland.

Which came first: the chicken or the egg?

Probably the egg.

What does this have to do with wine and NFTs?

Nothing. But we care to tell you that first came the magical merlot grapes that were donated to us from mother nature. Then, the hand-selected berries were refined by applying upmost care and expertise, becoming the amazing wine that you will taste when opening your Primo Passo. And only after all that, we humbly add the option for our client to mint a digital collectible that will enable the collection and extend the memory of a hopefully happy and celebrative moment. We do not aspire to become more important than the wine and have the full intention to let the wine stay at the center of every project that we might make in our history.

Chapter 2

Minting Primo Passo 2020 NFT

Who is eligible to mint any of the Primo Passo NFTs?

The NFTs can be minted by the final customers of the bottles of wine which carry a MINT Code, as an additional benefit to the actual fine wine itself.

How can I mint my NFT and where?

Assuming that you have a functioning MetaMask plugin installed to your internet browser and an Ethereum wallet with some Matic in it, you can mint your NFT directly from this website, here and now.

What is MetaMask?

To transfer the NFT to a digital wallet, you will need a tool that connects you to the Ethereum and other EVM compatible blockchains. We propose you to install the MetaMask plug-in for this. You can find out more info at metamask.io.

Why do I need Matic and how do I obtain it?

In order to protect itself from bad guys misusing its valuable computational power, a blockchain typically asks you some “currency” to fill any transaction. This is no different for the polygon blockchain, and you minting your Primo Passo 2020 indeed represents a transaction that the blockchain has to validate. Thus, you will need to pay the Polygon blockchain participants some of its native currency called Matic to claim your NFT.

To obtain Matic, you can use several cryptocurrency exchanges that offer the possibility to transform your fiat currency into cryptocurrency. When you withdraw your coins, make sure to do so on the Polygon network.

This is all too complicated for me, I don’t get it. What now?

We fully understand that most of our customers are not familiar with this highly disruptive but still very underdeveloped technology.

The sad news is that there really are no convenient short cuts to this world at the moment, you will need to at least partly understand it.

The good news is that we are here to support, since our project can only succeed if you mint your NFTs, interact with the blockchain and discover how fun and cool this new world can be.

Thanks for your nice words. But what if, obviously, I still don’t get it?

To enable every single one of our customers with the power of will to mint his or her NFT, we are throwing out two main lifesavers in this rough sea:

  1. Tutorial: following this link you will be able to follow a step-by-step tutorial on YouTube directly produced by us on how to go from zero to hero.
    Link: www.subscryption.ch/tutorial
  2. Contact us: following this link you will reach our contact page, where you can write us an email with your questions. We will reach out and determine how we can solve your problem in the most efficient way. If you need support all the way through the process, we plan to give seminars, where small group can interact with us dynamically, so that all of you have a chance to become crypto natives and start having fun with NFTs.
